3 Easy Apple Treats
Things you'll need
Apple Crisps
Ingredients- 4 large or 6 small Gala or Fuji apples, peeled and chopped
- ¼ cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ¾ cup all purpose flour
- 1 cup old fashioned oats
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 4 ounces unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
- Cutting board & knife
- Small mixing bowl
- Hand mixer
- 6 ramekins
- Baking tray
- Spoon
- Rubber spatula
- Scoop for topping
Chocolate Caramel Apple Slice Pops
Ingredients- 3 tall Gala or Fuji apples
- 1 teaspoon citric acid
- 9 Popsicle sticks
- ½ pound dark coating chocolate
- 12 caramels, unwrapped
- 1-2 tablespoons water
- ½ bag white candy melts, melted
- Cutting board & knife
- Baking sheet lined with paper towel
- Small bowl
- Metal spoon
- Lollipop sticks
- Wax paper
- Baking sheet
- Glass measuring cup
- Decorating bag fitted with #5 tip
Apple Fries
Ingredients- 2 large Gala or Fuji apples, peeled
- Vegetable oil
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- Large frying pan
- Tongs
- Baking sheet lined with paper towel
- Cutting board & knife
- Small bowl
- Candy thermometer
Apple Crisps
Let's get started!
- Preheat the oven to 375F.
- In a medium bowl, toss chopped apples in flour and then place into ramekins.
- In another medium bowl, combine sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.
- Use your hands to work in butter to create the crumble topping.
- Scatter the crumble over the apples and then place the ramekins on a baking tray.
- Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Chocolate Caramel Apple Slice Pops
Let's get started!
- Wash apples and cut them into 3 thick slices. Remove the outside of the apple so that each slice is exposed on both sides.
- Sprinkle some citric acid on each slice and place between two paper towels for 10 minutes to dry.
- Insert a Popsicle stick about 2/3 into each slice.
- Melt chocolate in a glass bowl and then dip each slice into the melt. Place pops onto wax paper to set.
- Microwave unwrapped caramels in a glass measuring cup for about a minute and then add water to get a drizzling consistency.
- Drizzle the caramel over the coated apple slices. Use a #5 tip to drizzle white candy melts for contrast.
Apple Fries
Let's get started!
- Heat oil in a frying pan to 350ºF.
- Cut apples into ¾ inch sticks and then fry them for 3 minutes.
- Remove fries from oil and place them on a baking sheet lined with paper towel.
- Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Once the fries have cooled a little, toss them in cinnamon sugar and serve.
