Dino Footprint Fossil Cookies
A dino-mite cinnamon sugar cookie recipe decorated to look like dinosaur footprint fossils!
Makes 2 to 3 dozen cookies
Things you'll need
Ingredients- 2 cups flour
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon extract
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- Cinnamon for dusting
- Medium mixing bowl
- Large mixing bowl
- Hand mixer
- Rubber spatula
- Whisk
- Rolling pin
- Plastic wrap
- Round cookie cutter
- Baking sheet lined with parchment paper
- Dinosaur figurines
- Small paintbrush
Let's get started!
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add an egg, and mix well to combine. Pour in the extracts and mix well.
- Add the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
- Form dough into a disc and wrap in plastic. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Roll out dough to ¼ inch thick and cut out circles.
Time to decorate!
- Use the feet of dinosaur figurines to stamp footprints into each cookie.
- Use a small paintbrush to fill in each footprint with cinnamon.
- Bake cookies for 10 minutes.
