Snowman Meringue Cookies

Makes 24 snowman meringue cookies

 

Things you'll need

Ingredients
  • 3 large egg whites, room temperature
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Decorations
  • Orange jimmies
  • Dark chocolate chips
  • Piping tips: #1 round, #2A round

Let's get started!

  1. Preheat oven to 225F, line two baking sheets with parchment paper. 
  2. Combine the egg whites, cream of tartar and salt in the bowl of the stand mixer.
  3. Whisk on a medium speed until foamy. 
  4. Pour in the sugar slowly while the mixer is running. 
  5. Beat meringue on high speed until its glossy and has stiff peaks. 
  6. Add the vanilla extract, mix until just combined.
  7. Scoop meringue into a large piping bag fitted with a #2A round tip. 
  8. Pipe a golf ball sized ball onto the parchment, then pipe another grape sized ball on top. Place one orange jimmy in the center of the head for the snowman's nose. Repeat for the rest of the meringues.
  9. Bake snowmen for 1 hour. Then turn off the oven, and leave the door closed for 2 hours. Do not open the oven door to check on them.
  10. Let them cool completely. 

Let's get started!

  1. Fill a piping bag fitted with a #1 round tip, with melted dark chocolate chips and pipe on eyes, mouth, buttons and arms onto the snowmen.
  2. Let harden completely at room temperature, 30 minutes.
