Gingerbread Wookiee Cookies
Things you'll need
Ingredients- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ teaspoon ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon allspice
- 1 stick butter
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ cup molasses
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- White chocolate
- Dark chocolate
- Large mixing bowl
- Small mixing bowl
- Hand mixer with whisks
- Rubber scrapper
- Wax paper
- Rolling pin
- Small hand strainer
- Cookie sheet lined with parchment
- Decorating bag fitted with #1 tip
- Gingerbread man cookie cutter
Let's get started!
- Preheat oven to 350ºF.
- In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and soda, salt, ground ginger, cinnamon, cloves and allspice.
- In a large bowl, beat together butter, sugar and molasses with a hand mixer. Add an egg and vanilla and mix until well combined.
- Mix in ½ the dry ingredients and then scrape down the sides. Add the second ½ half of the dry ingredients and mix well.
- Divide the dough in half and wrap each half in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for an hour.
- Roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thick and then cut out gingerbread man shapes. Use a fork to make Wookiee fur on each one (PICTURE at 3:42).
- Bake for 15 minutes and then cool completely before decorating.
Time to decorate!
- Use melted dark chocolate with a #1 tip to pipe eyes, a nose, and a sash onto each Wookiee (PICTURE at 4:36).
- Once the chocolate has set, pipe white chocolate studs onto each sash.
- Rrrrrrr-ghghghghgh! These Gingerbread Wookiee Cookies are so good they could bring down the Empire!
